As the sub page is quite much and complex links and texts,  I will try first here below (not ready yet!) Do a brief summary* while we need to consider the complex consequence of the development within the fields of inflammAging! Especially how we, ourselves, can i different ways prevent destructive health developments! NB, knowledge development is continuing. But, some basics we can with high probability trust motivating our personal measures …  (soon more quite easy-understandable (I hope) text …

But, before the summary and then moving to sub pages, see the below picture

Health relevance of the modification of low grade inflammation in ageing (inflammageing) and the role of nutrition
A picture which really move from diet to complex low grade InflammAging  … really something to elaborate, mediate and practice in real life …
BUT also below I discuss “how can I understand in spite of not detailed knowledge …”
Low-grade-inflammation picture www-sciencedirect-com-science-article-pii-S156816371730003X-2

How can I understand the message in the picture in spite of not detailed knowledge?

One way is: We can use the picture/image/chart .. without going into details. Here the message is: We (all) can benefit from gradually changing to an anti-inflammatory diet. The picture is in accordance with international knowledge development, which is becoming increasingly clear.

No one of us has absolute knowledge, but well different degrees of it within some fields BUT ”roughly” we can SEE (our Limbic, spatial information processing) the context/message in ”rough features” although in detail more or less complex. The picture gives connection to diet can leads to health and ill health, respectively. Indicating a choice!

Inflammation is called ”the silent killer” by the WHO. A gate to underlying severe illnesses, perhaps not very obvious and hard to diagnose at an early stage. So, this seems to be important! So, the old proverb, “Health is still silent” may be wrong, e.g. f we “have” a low-grade inflammation without “visible” symptoms. Instead of be afraid of the above, we can think: “my own life style behavior may improve my health, and I can do it while enjoy it”! Or? My way to try to understand fields I do not understand (learned/studied) is to use informative picture/images/charts/ .. for getting an overview including try to understand not only the main message but also try to see, whether it seems to be “well grounded” paradigmatically.

If I find the picture simplifying satisfying ok an interesting message, I check references and the titles it give me an idea of others perspective on the main message. The I decide if I will temporarily include it into my knowledge base. This is the way I work in areas I don’t have in-depth knowledge in, which is quite often, while I try to work out of a systems integrating biopsychosocial medicine paradigm – not very easy, but much closer to real world than a reductionistic paradigm = according to my paradigm!

Now the authors highlight in the link above

  • Ageing is characterized by an increase in the concentration of inflammatory markers in the bloodstream.
  • Low grade inflammation (LGI) is associated with age-related decline of many functional systems.
  • LGI is associated with increased risk of ill-health, poor well-being and mortality.
  • LGI is influenced by gut microbiota and by diet, with a protective role for healthy diets and foods.
  • Slowing, controlling or reversing LGI is likely to be an important way to prevent age-related functional decline.
  • There is evidence to support specific dietary interventions as a strategy to control LGI.
